APPROXIMATELY 80 pigs have been killed in a barn fire.
Fire crews from Sherburn, Malton and Pickering stations were called to the scene in the village of Yedingham at 10.59am yesterday.
A barn used to house pigs was on fire.
Crews extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets and the farmer's machinery.
The Sherburn crew later posted on social media: "Huge effort by all crews in saving the vast majority of pigs, sad for the ones we couldn't.
"Huge clean operation by crews post-incident to ensure operational readiness."
