FAMILIES visiting Nunnington Hall this Easter were treated to an egg hunt with an environmental twist.
The National Trust property, in partnership with Cadburys, invited youngsters to join Captain Compost and Lieutenant Leafmould in their crusade to save the soil of the historic venue’s organic garden. Successful youngsters were rewarded with a chocolate egg. The trail featured a number of compost bins filled with different items that the children had to identify as compostable, recyclable or toxic. Laura Kennedy, visitor experience manager, said: “It’s linked with nature and the environment, and it’s all about promoting composting and recycling to children. It proved really popular.”
The Easter weekend also included family fun races, crafts and composting classes. The Easter Egg trail runs until Sunday.
