THE Sandburn Hall Golf Club captain has handed over £5,561 to the Sporting Memories Foundation.
Captain Gerry MacCrory and other club members raised the funds by hosting auctions, quizzes, a captain’s club and numerous other events throughout the year.
Gerry said: “I am thrilled to be able to make this donation on behalf of Sandburn Hall Golf Club.
“It is the largest amount ever raised for a single charity by the club and we are hoping it will make a big difference to people in the area living with dementia, depression or loneliness through sport reminiscence or activity, £1,000 of the total was also a very kind donation from local company Inseto (UK) Ltd.”
Susie Brindley, chief operating officer for Sporting Memories Foundation, said: “With the money raised by Gerry and the members at the golf club, we will be able to set up and fund two clubs that will run weekly for a full year, benefitting many people.”
“As a charity, donations like this make a massive impact and are hugely appreciated.”
