POLICE in Scarborough are appealing for information to help trace the identity of a man involved in "a disturbing incident" on Wednesday January 23.

Between 2pm and 2.20pm, the man was reported to be "touching himself inappropriately" in full view of the public in Peasholm Park in Scarborough.

The police appeal describes the man as being 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in tall, of thin build, with a brown goatie beard and wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans.

Scarborough Police would like to speak with anyone who knows who the man is, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident in the park.

As a result of the incident, Scarborough Neighbourhood Policing Team added it has carried out numerous patrols and will continue to do so "to reassure visitors to the park".
