Seven Video is a company on the up. Started by three brothers in Tadcaster, the company has expanded over recent years and is now based at Church Fenton – the home of Yorkshire Studios and also the site of a proposed new development for creative industries.

The company’s client list includes national and international contracts and the team has carried out work in several different countries over the past 12 months.

“We expanded to Church Fenton because we wanted to be ahead of the game,” explained business development director Paul Sherwood. “The plans for this site are really exciting and will help to open up lots of new opportunities for local companies like ours to grow.”

The proposals for a creative hub at Church Fenton have been developed in partnership with Selby District Council, although they are subject to discussions around planning permission. The Council has also supported Seven Video through its work to help small and medium-sized companies in the district invest to create new opportunities for local residents.

“We got support in two key areas for the business helping us to refine our processes and to get better at marketing,” explained Paul. The District Council put the company in touch with the digital enterprise programme, which is supported by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership. This support enabled the company to get hold of grant funding to invest in new hardware to improve their capacity and productivity.

“We’re a year into the support programmes and we’re already ahead in our three year development plan. Turnover has increased by 50% and we’ve created a number of new jobs. We’re recruited from the local area, because there’s a lot of talent in the Selby district and this investment has helped to create new opportunities for people living nearby.”
