A MALTON knitter has embarked on a quirky charity endeavour to help children in the community.
Emma Brown, who works as a fleet sales administrator at Volvo-retailer Ray Chapman Motors, began knitting a collection of teddy bears for charity back in January after her WI inspired her to learn the craft.
Emma has already made 17 bears, and is determined to make it to 20 by the end of the year.
She is donating all of her creations to the Buddy Bag Foundation, a charity that provides comforting items to children entering emergency accommodation in order to help restore a sense of safety and security in their lives.
Emma said: “I’m so pleased that I found the Buddy Bag Foundation.
“To know that I’m helping a child who is in emergency care, and may have very little to call their own, is a wonderful feeling.
“Knitting is a great way to relax and I’d encourage anyone who has some spare time to get involved.”
