A MAN who was found lying injured in the middle of the A19 is believed to have fallen from a moving lorry.

North Yorkshire Police said they have arrested the man, thought to be in his thirties, on suspicion of entering the UK illegally, following the incident on Friday morning.

The road was closed at just after 11am on Friday following reports a man had fallen from a lorry on the road between York and Selby, close to the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet.

A spokeswoman for the force said the man was found lying in the road and was initially thought to be seriously hurt.

However, following advice from paramedics, his injuries were not believed to be as serious as first thought, and he had been taken to York Hospital for treatment.

Traffic was disrupted in the area for about 30 minutes, but has since reopened.

The man remains in custody for questioning.
