PATRICK Ryder, an author of ‘dark fiction’ living in Welburn near Malton, has won a competition to have his short story published.

The story will be part of a 50-story anthology called ‘The Singularity’, which tells ‘science fiction tales of our future history’ from the year 2067.

The book is being launched by the Create 50 publishing team at a red-carpet event in London on December 18. The book itself is scheduled to be published the day after.

Sales are expected to be brisk - a previous title by the same team knocked Stephen King himself off the top spot on Amazon Kindle.
