JAY Rayner, the award-winning restaurant critic and Masterchef judge, will reveal his Ten Food Commandments at the Milton Rooms, Malton, on Friday, November 23.

Like a culinary Moses, he will deal once and fall with questions like whether it is ever okay to covet thy neighbour’s oxen, eating with your hands and if you should cut off the fat.

The Ten (Food) Commandments combines reportage and anecdotes from his career as a critic.

“This is a mouth-watering evening for foodies everywhere,” said Merryn Wilderspin, chairman of trustees at the Milton Rooms. “We are delighted to be welcoming Jay to the Milton Rooms. He is a man with interesting and humorous insights into the world of the food industry and will surely leave audience members wanting more when he comes to Malton.”

The award-winning writer and broadcaster is best known for his work as a Masterchef judge & restaurant critic for the Observer.

Jay’s visit to Malton coincides with the release of his tenth book, Wasted Calories and Ruined Nights: A Journey Deeper into Dining Hell. This latest book, which he will be signing copies of on the night, is a collection of 20 of his most unfortunately memorable dining experiences from recent years.

Tickets for Jay Rayner’s Ten (Food) Commandments are available at www.themiltonrooms.com or from the box office on (01653) 696240.
