RYEDALE Folk Museum is helping school children to understand the sacrifices and hardships of a First World War soldier.
The typical contents of a soldier’s pack have provided inspiration for a new activity day based on understanding the effect the war had on people.
Jo Townend, learning officer at the Hutton-le-Hole museum, said: “Families across the country were affected by the war, including those on the North York Moors.
“In the centenary year, marking the end of the First World War, and with Remembrance Day approaching, we are keen to play our part in helping our younger generations understand that the war changed the world, forever.”
