POLICE are "extremely concerned" about the welfare of a missing man from York.

Stuart Aiken, 47, is believed to be still in the York area, North Yorkshire Police said.

His vehicle, a black Ford Mondeo sport, with the registration CE60 YHM, was last seen at around 11.45pm last night on the A1036 Tadcaster Road southwest bound, the force added.

Police tweeted to say they were concerned about his "chemical welfare" and said not to open the doors of the car if Stuart is seen inside.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen him are urged to phone police on 101, press one and pass information to the force control room.
