RYEDALE Lions Club annual charity golf tournament raised a record-beating total of around £5,000.

More than 40 teams from all over Yorkshire took part in the golf day at Kirkbymoorside Golf Club and, with more than 80 sponsors and donors, made it a big win day for local charities and good causes.

New Lions club president and keen golfer Gordon Smith presented the prizes. “This was a very enjoyable day for all the golfers but with the invaluable support from the local business community around Ryedale it made it a very good day indeed for local charities and those in need,” said Gordon.

Local teams led the leaderboards with the men’s prizes going to the Scott Boys team, captained by Alan Scott, followed by the Hard Hatters, the Westies and Playboys. Ladies team winners were the Pink Ladies of Kirkbymoorside, captained by Sue Clements.
