A NORTH York Moors village inn has gone on the market.

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been instructed to sell the leasehold of The Inn at Hawnby.

The country inn includes a bar, lounge, restaurant, six double ensuite letting rooms and three self-contained letting rooms.

Situated on the Mexborough estate, the inn is integral to the village, serving as a hub for the local community, as well as being popular with tourists.

The estate was purchased by John Savile, the 6th Earl of Mexborough in 1897 and Mexborough Estates, owned and operated by the Savile family, currently maintains a number of properties in the village.

Mexborough Estates is now seeking an experienced operator to take on a new, free of tie lease and restore the pub as the hub of the village.

Jamie Savile, of Mexborough Estates, said: “The success of The Inn is crucial to the estate and wider village, and we are extremely passionate about finding somebody who shares our enthusiasm and desire to build a sustainable business to be enjoyed by the village community and tourists alike.”

David Cash, senior business agent at Christie & Co, added: “Jamie and the team at Mexborough Estates are keen to work with prospective tenants to ensure that The Inn is let to a credible tenant on sustainable terms and ensure that its status as the hub of the village is retained.”
