A 35-year-old man has died after his car left the road and went into a ditch.
The accident happened in Intake Lane at Acaster Malbis at about 11.35am on Sunday.
The victim is from the Hovingham area.
The man was driving a yellow MG Midget car in Intake Lane, towards Acaster Malbis, when he lost control and collided with the hedgerow.
Nobody else was in the car and no other vehicles were involved.
The road was closed for several hours.
North Yorkshire Police ask anyone who saw the car before the crash, or who saw the accident itself, to phone 101. Quote reference 12160146392 when passing on information.
