A CYCLIST has been flown to hospital with head and leg injuries after an accident in York.
North Yorkshire Police said the woman, who is in her 20s, was knocked off her bike in the accident, which happened on the A1079 Hull Road near the B & Q store.
A spokeswoman said an air ambulance helicopter was called and took the woman to Leeds General Infirmary.
She said the accident, which involved a grey Audi, was reported to police just after noon today.
The road was shut in both directions afterwards at the BP filling station but the spokeswoman said she understood one carriageway had now been reopened.
