A NEW coffee and roastery opens in Malton on Saturday.
Based in the Talbot Yard, Roost is run by David and Ruth Elkington, who previously owned the Cotton House Coffee Shop in Helmsley.
Ruth said that with a growing family and a need for more time with their two young children, they decided to take a new direction and launched Roost, roasting their own coffee on-site.
"Roost aims to supply wholesale and retail beans to consumers, independent coffee shops, restaurants and retailers," she said.
"As we drink coffee everyday prices need to be sustainable. Of course we want traceable and ethically sourced commodities, but these can be found at a sensible cost."
The coffee bar at Roost will be open week mornings Wednesday to Friday throughout autumn and winter, and the second Saturday of every month in conjunction with the Malton Food Market.
