CYCLISTS can ride a section of the Tour de Yorkshire route ahead of the professional riders.

The Tour De Dalby Forest fun sportive will take place on Friday, May 1, with a 10km route around the professional route expected to draw hundreds of amateur riders.

A spokesman for the event said: "Make it a day to remember - ride our Fun Sportive around the Great Yorkshire Forest in the morning with family and friends then in the afternoon watch the Tour de Yorkshire race at any number of spectacular forest locations as it climbs the Cote De Dalby Forest, around Staindale Lake and through the beautiful Low Dalby valley.

"Sportives are a great way to get into organised cycling events, giving you the chance to complete a fully signed, timed and supported ride in a relaxed environment. There’s no need to feel intimidated as Sportives are primarily fun and relaxed none-competitive days out on your bike with like minded people."
