Snow is causing driving problems on several North Yorkshire roads and the county's police have warned motorists to be extra careful, especially on ungritted roads.
Gritters were unable for a time to get onto part of the A170 road between Thirsk and Scarborough which includes Sutton Bank.
Elsewhere, the A19 was down to one lane north of Northallerton.
On the A64 near Malton, an accident on the eastbound carriageway shortly before midday caused problems, delaying traffic.
In York as residents make the most of their weekend of free entry into the city's tourist attractions, the main roads are mostly clear and traffic is generally moving well, though motorists are still urged to take care.
Special offers are available on York buses for families and residents who want to leave the car at home.
