FURTHER sleet and snow may fall in York and North Yorkshire tonight as the big freeze continues.
The region will continue to suffer cold weather for the rest of the week, with overnight frosts and wintry showers, and temperatures unlikely to rise above 1C today, and above 2C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Weathermen say further snow is possible on Friday before temperatures gradually return to more normal levels over the weekend and into next week, rising to a possible maximum of 8C by next Monday.
