THE family of a moped rider who died following a crash on the A64 have paid tribute to him.

Robert Andrew Crick, 21, from Rillington, was riding on the A64 close to West Knapton, near Malton, at just before 8am on Tuesday, December 23, when he was in collision with a Mitsubishi Chamonix people carrier near the junction with the B1258.

Mr Crick was airlifted to hospital, where he later died.

His family issued a statement yesterday said: "The family of the late Robert Crick would like to express their thanks and gratitude to everybody for their kind words and support, during this difficult time.

"Special thanks to the ambulance services, Great North Air Ambulance, police and staff at James Cook Hospital for their help and assistance in all they did for Robert."

Police are still investigating the crash and have appealed to anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the crash to contact them on 101 or email leanne.anderson@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
