MORE than a thousand real ale lovers from across the country have travelled to Scarborough for CAMRA’s national annual meeting and conference.
The Campaign for Real Ale’s conference is being accompanied by a real ale festival, featuring more than 70 beers, ciders and perries sourced from around the UK, but with a focus on local breweries from the Yorkshire area.
National chairman Colin Valentine said that as a membership-based, campaigning organisation, the conference was hugely important as an opportunity for members to voice their opinions and bring up motions, which were then voted on by all attendees and subsequently implemented by the National Executive.
“These motions can be anything from how best to increase the popularity of real ale in the UK, to where CAMRA’s campaigning money and time should be best spent in the future.”
