THREE people have been taken to hospital after their car careered down an embankment in a North Yorkshire town early today.

The crash happened at about 1.40am off Musham Bank roundabout in the Crossgates area of Scarborough, with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service saying it was initially believed the car had gone through a barrier and onto a railway line, although it had actually landed upright away from the track.

Fire crews who were called to the scene found the car had crashed about eight feet down a bank, with three men inside. They were not trapped and were taken to hospital after being carried to ambulances on spinal boards. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
