A MAN’S body has been found floating face down in the sea at Whitby.
North Yorkshire Police said officers were alerted by the Whitby Harbour Master at about 5am today after an outgoing trawler had reported seeing a man in the sea.
“Officers attended the scene and found a 52-year-old local man floating face down in the water near to the RNLI station,” said a spokesman.
“An inshore lifeboat crew recovered the man’s body from the water and he was pronounced dead by paramedics.”
He said officers were satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
