Artist Rose Wylie will receive an OBE for her services to art at Buckingham Palace.

Wylie, who is best known for her abstract paintings on unprimed canvas, was named in last year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Not finding fame until her early 70s, the 85-year-old artist has since exhibited at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC and the Tate Britain.

The honour comes after years of critical acclaim.

In 2014, she won the John Moores Painting Prize and in 2015 the Charles Wollaston Award for most distinguished work in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
