WELCOME to Yorkshire has appointed a new marketing director to help sell the county to the rest of the world.

Marcus Falconer has joined Yorkshire’s tourism agency from the high ropes course adventure company, Go Ape, where he was head of marketing.

Gary Verity, chief executive at Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Marcus to the team. He’s arrived at an exciting time in the development of our national and international brand, and will lead on a range of marketing initiatives including our award winning campaign ‘A long weekend in Yorkshire isn’t long enough’.”


A MANAGER from York has been appointed to a new national role for the technology specialist Saville Audio Visual.

Andy Dyson, who joined the company in 1988 as a warehouseman, has been promoted to divisional manager for AV systems.

He will take on responsibility for the company’s national technical sales force and its systems manufacturing and installation Business, including video-conferencing and digital signage.


CATH Lee has been appointed joint Yorkshire and Humber policy manager for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), which has 16,000 member businesses in the region.

She job-shares with Denise Wilson, and the post involves supporting the FSB’s nine-strong Yorkshire and Humber Policy Committee in representing the interests of small and medium enterprises with the regional tier of government and associated bodies.

Cath was previously policy manager for the FSB in the East Midlands and, before that, spent 23 years in business banking.


RESOURCE Efficiency Yorkshire (REY) has appointed James Richardson as its research and data co-ordinator.

REY is a business support and market development delivery programme funded by Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

James, former planning compliance officer for Leeds City Council, joins the team to commission and collate new research that will identify opportunities for low-carbon business developments in Yorkshire and Humber.

He said: “I will be developing the research that underpins REY’s decision-making process. I will also be looking to forge links with the Environment Agency, WRAP, Defra and the Government Office for Yorkshire and Humber to build a large network of research resources that is easily accessible by REY’s team of project managers.”
