If you are planning your wedding, then one date not to be missed this autumn is the Yorkshire Living Brides Wedding Exhibition on Sunday, October 21.

Your wedding day will undoubtedly be the most exciting day of your life, but there is so much to think about and plan in the run-up to the big day itself that it can all feel rather daunting.

However, help is at hand at the Yorkshire Living Brides magazine Wedding Event, which takes place at York Racecourse on Sunday, October 21, between 11am and 4pm.

As well as a huge variety of stands, featuring local suppliers and services – including photographers, venues, cakes, gowns, menswear, flowers and entertainment – there are two professional catwalk shows at noon and 2pm.

The event is free and there’s also plenty of free parking, plus the chance to win a bottle of champagne if you are the registered bride or groom who wins the most money from an original free stake at the roulette table. The racecourse’s café is open for hot and cold snacks and drinks – an ideal opportunity to sit and discuss your discoveries over refreshments.

Alison Spaven, of Yorkshire Living Brides, said: “Despite the current economic climate, couples are continuing to commit to each other and pronounce their wedding vows. The decision to do this is the start of what at times feels like a rollercoaster ride, with so many choices to be made, from big ones like where to have the ceremony, down to small ones such as the colour of a cravat. Sometimes the smallest detail can assume massive proportions.

“Our purpose in putting together the Yorkshire Living Brides magazine Wedding Event at York Racecourse is to enable all couples to come and source suppliers who will deliver what they promise,” she added.

“Every stand holder has a long relationship with our publications, or has been carefully checked to make sure they can offer quality goods and services. Our photographers, for example, are all professionals – particularly important in the light of recent national newspaper articles about drunken amateurs losing memory sticks from cameras.

“We hope that each and every couple who visits the showfinds what they are looking for. And if not, please let us know, so we can endeavour to get it right next time.”
