MR Barker of New Earswick is dead right (Splash out, letters, October 18). The old toilets in Parliament Street were unobtrusive, quite roomy, wide steps at each end, and very clean. That someone allowed that idiotic monstrosity that has poor access and ruins the view both to and from Piccadilly to replace the original is shameful. It should be knocked down.
