FUNDRAISING efforts are continuing to help pay for life-saving treatment for a young cancer patient.

Six-year-old Jamie Inglis, from Kelfield, has suffered a neuroblastoma relapse and has undergone surgery to have a tumour that caused paralysis removed from his spine.

Fundraisers have so far reached £27,657 in their bid to raise £250,000 to pay for relapse treatment from experts in Germany.

Among the many fundraising events recently held, sisters Marcelle Mandy and Ava Mollan organised a fundraising evening, at the Highwayman pub in Sheriff Hutton on Saturday, which raised £2,000.

Guests took part in a charity auction, rode a rodeo bull and firemen volunteered to take part in a sponsored wax.

Mrs Mandy said: “We decided it would be nice to do something for this little boy. We wanted to help Jamie – it’s sad he can’t get the treatment he needs.”

Meanwhile, a team of 25 parents, some of whom have children at school with Jamie at Lord Deramore’s Primary School, and three young people, have taken part in the Go Ape Challenge at Dalby Forest for the appeal.

The adventure park gave over £800, the equivalent price of the tickets, and the team raised more than £1,000 in sponsorship.

Mandy Liddell, who help[ed organise the event, said: “I’d like to say thank-you to Go Ape for backing the appeal and to everyone who took part.”
