NORTH Yorkshire golf star Simon Dyson was in illustrious company as he started his drive for success in the Hero Honda Open championship in India today.

Dyson - one of only three Brits invited to compete in the event alongside Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell and Scotland's Andrew Coltart - started on the tenth hole alongside the defending champion, Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant. The three-ball at the new Delhi GC was completed by the year 2000 tournament winner and one of India's leading players, Jyoti Randhawa.

Dyson, the 28-year-old two-time European Tour winner, is currently ranked 76 in the world and 18th on the European Order of Merit after his recent joint eighth finish in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He collected prize money of 72,641 euros to push him through the one million euros barrier in tour earnings this year. That equates to roughly just over £716,000 in the last ten months in which he has racked up nine top-ten finishes headed by wins in the Indonesian Open and KLM Open.
