Head teacher Simon Biddlestone celebrates with pupils after Heworth Primary School gained a “Good” rating from Ofsted inspectors.
The school was inspected on March 20 and 21, with inspectors considering questionnaires completed by parents and sitting in on a number of lessons and meetings.
The 145 pupils were praised for their respect for others, and showed “outstanding” development and above-average attainment.
The report said: “Pupils of all backgrounds show respect for, and interest in, other cultures and customs. Mr Biddlestone said: “It has been quite a long time since we were last inspected in November 2006, and things have changed a lot in the last five-and-a-half years. It’s much more difficult to get a ‘good’ judgement now.”
