CHART-TOPPING boy band McFly were greeted by crowds of screaming fans when they played a sold-out performance at York Barbican last night.
For the first of their two visits to York in 2012, Dougie Poynter, Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Danny Jones pleased fans with an upbeat performance on their Up Close And Personal Tour, including many of the band’s big hits.
Formed in 2004, McFly have clocked up 18 consecutive top 20 singles, seven of which reached number one in the UK singles chart. They have also won a Brit Award for best pop act.
This summer, McFly will return to the city for the Music Showcase Weekend at York Racecourse, when they will take to the stage after the last race of the Sky Bet York Stakes meeting on Saturday, July 28.
As many as 40,000 people are expected to flock to the Knavesmire course that afternoon.
