PUPILS and staff at an East Yorkshire secondary school are celebrating after being taken out of special measures.
In only their fourth monitoring visit, Ofsted inspectors were so impressed with the work that was going on at The Market Weighton School that they judged the school no longer needed special measures.
Ofsted inspectors placed the school in special measures in October 2010. It saw the school working collaboratively with South Hunsley School and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Gavin Chappell, acting head teacher, said: “We are obviously delighted that the recent Ofsted inspection recognised the hard work that staff and students have undertaken over the last year in order to bring the school out of special measures.
“The inspectors judged that the school is ‘improving securely and quickly’ and this now gives the school a firm platform on which to make further positive developments which will benefit our students.”
