NEEDING to beat Scarborough to qualify for the end of season Yorkshire Over-55s League division one Challenge Cup, York Indoor Bowls Club did it in style.
They conjured their best victory of the season winning all four rinks to finish 98-60 victors.
The two rinks in Scarborough were played first and both visiting teams won comfortably.
Graham Brooke’s led 18-6 before the hosts came back at them, winning five out of six ends. But the York ranks had enough in store for a 28-15 success.
Phil Parsons’ side were level at 12-12 with seven ends to play. They took six of the seven to finish victors by a 24-15 margin.
Bolstered by a 22-shot cushion, the home side were relieved of any pressure and both enjoyed excellent wins.
Graham Instone’s rink won ten of the first 13 ends to lead 24-7 en route to a 30-16 victory.
Malcolm Thompson’s team trailed 14-13 with three ends to go. But after grabbing the lead for the first time on the 20th end, they secured victory with a single on the last to win 16-14.
York ‘A’ now play champions North Cave White, Featherstone ‘A’ and Harrogate in the Challenge Cup at New Earswick IBC on Thursday, April 5.
