PUPILS from a school in Selby have helped provide advice to a national children’s charity.

The students, from Barlby High School, have worked with The Transformation Trust to select this year’s activities to work with schools across England, with 15 pupils from the school forming a Young Peoples’ Advisory Group.

The Trust provides extra-curricular activities in schools in some of the most deprived areas across the country, and is currently looking at organisations it will support this year, with their decisions considered by the group.

Heather Scott, head teacher at the school, said: “Opportunities for young people to have such an impact in the decision-making processes for a national organisation don’t come along every day.

“I am thrilled that our pupils are able to take part in this workshop which will play a large part in the final decisions made by the charity’s Trustees.”

Amy Leonard, chief executive of the trust, said: “This is a crucial time in our yearly cycle when we have to make difficult decisions about which activities to support.

“Therefore, gauging the interest and enthusiasm of young people for the potential projects is essential in this process, as ultimately it is them who will be benefitting from them.”
