TWO men have been charged with a number of wildlife offences in the Selby area.
The men, aged 43 and 25, were spotted acting suspiciously in Eggborough when they were arrested on January 8.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the 43-year-old man will face charges of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, namely his terrier dog, which he allegedly involved in digging a badger sett.
He is also charged with digging for badgers, hunting a wild mammal with dogs, interfering with badger setts and failing in his duty of welfare for his dog by not seeking veterinary treatment after it was injured while hunting.
The 25-year-old man will answer charges of digging for badgers, hunting a wild mammal with dogs and interfering with badger setts.
The men, both from the Doncaster area, were charged on March 14, and are due to appear at Selby Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 5.
