IT’S a busy working life for Wayne Barrett who has just been awarded a five-year long service award by North Yorkshire County Council for his job as the crossing patrol warden at Barlby County Primary School.
After seeing the children safely across the busy road each day he swaps his lollipop stick for a brush and mop to carry out his tasks as the school caretaker.
And his work at the school does not stop there, for grandfather Wayne, 59, is also lunchtime playground supervisor.
“I enjoy all the jobs”, said Wayne, who has two grown-up children.
