WORK is still under way on the demolition of York’s Splash Palace in Parliament Street, as workers dismantle the public toilet block.
The block was built 21 years ago but closed in 2010, when new facilities opened in Silver Street, off Newgate Market.
City of York Council said it hoped the majority of the materials used in the building would be recycled.
It also aims to recover the clock and roof ridges.
The work is due to finish before the ceremony to formally announce the City of York’s new Lord Mayor, which will be held in May, but it is not yet certain what will take the building’splace.
