ONE-derful! That was the verdict on this year’s York Schools’ Drama Festival.

Performers from ten primary and secondary schools were given the challenge of coming up with entertainment based on the theme of “1” at the University of York.

They proved they were Number One at entertaining the sell-out audience of 700 people, including the Lord Mayor, Coun David Horton, and the rest of the Civic Party.

Archbishop of York’s Junior School celebrated individuality and Lord Deramore’s Primary School encouraged the audience to “live each day as if it’s your last”.

Clifton with Rawcliffe, Scarcroft, Knavesmire, Clifton Green, Park Grove and Huntington Primary Schools and York High School and Canon Lee Specialist Art College also took part.

Colin Jackson from York-based Creative Learning Partnerships, which co-ordinated the event said: “We’re proud to be running the event.”
