THERE has been much made in The Press and on your website about the closure of the Beckfield Lane waste disposal site.
Yet there are one or two things which seem to remain conspicuously beyond the Lib Dem activists who are trying to save an expensive site. First, a site which is uneconomical must – at a time of Lib-Dem and Tory Government-imposed cuts to local government – close. After all, if they cannot accept their own Government’s cuts, who can?
Second, the Liberals spent eight years in control of the council, yet seemingly were only content with spending money on roads according to Coun Runciman (The Press, February 8).
Why not accept the obvious? Their party is no longer the protest vote they wish it still was, they are the Government and the party people are protesting against. They must take the consequences of their own actions.
