COUN Sandy Fraser seems yet again to have difficulty in understanding my proposals for the Guildhall complex, but that seems understandable now he has admitted to being “a simple soul” (Letters, March 14).

I have never denied my suggestion of borrowing money for upgrading the Guildhall, to enable surplus office space to be rented out thus providing funding to re-pay the loan, simple.

However, I have quite clearly stated that such a scheme must be viable; should it not be then the council must think again.

I did not wish this issue to be political, but it seems that any disagreement with Labour councillors is always made political and leads to personal attack, which is typical of those who can’t engage in intelligent discussion.

Finally, Coun Fraser’s admission of being “a simple soul” is quite scary especially as he is a member of the Labour cabinet.
