THE danger from cyclists to the elderly and partially sighted in York’s pedestrianised areas will be the subject of a debate hosted by York Older People’s Assembly.
The open meeting takes place on Monday and will feature three speakers from City of York Council, including traffic management officer Alistair Briggs. The city’s bus services will also be up for discussion.
Bob Towner, acting chairman of the assembly, said: “Representations have been made to the City Council for enforcement of existing restrictions on cycling in the current foot streets. The danger presented to those who are older or partially sighted has been well documented.
“In relation to bus services, concern has been expressed about reliability, evening and Sunday services and the lack of customer care shown by some drivers.”
The meeting takes place at 1.30pm on Monday at the Friends Meeting House in Friargate.
