POCKLINGTON RUFC under-15s and U16s are celebrating after booking their places in the final of the Yorkshire Plate.

The two teams will travel to West Park Leeds for the showpiece games on Sunday, April 1.

The U16s were 19-12 winners in their semi-final at Wharfedale, while their U15s club-mates triumphed 19-5 at home to Middlesbrough in the last four.

Wharfedale led 7-0 at the interval, but Pock’s strong start to the second half brought a touchdown for number eight Will Rhodes and Dan Elliot converted to level.

A charged down clearance handed Wharfedale the lead, but Pocklington again battled back and fly-half Elliot blocked a home kick and followed up for the try. Elliot kicked the conversion to edge the visitors back in front.

When a late Pock attack brought a penalty in front of the posts, Elliot sealed victory with his third kick of the match.

At Pocklington, the U15s were put under immediate pressure by Boro, who blasted over for an early try.

The visitors laid siege to the Pock line but the home side produced a tremendous defensive display to hold firm. They then broke out for centre John Soanes to slice through and score, James Hanley converting.

Pock took over in the second half and pulled clear with well-taken tries by wingers James Glew and George Alport, plus another Hanley conversion.
