ST Martin’s of Ampleforth won the Bowl at Terrington Hall School’s 14th annual under-13s rugby union sevens tournament.

The Bowl, Shield, Cup and Plate were up for grabs at the Ryedale school, with St Martin’s toppling Giggleswick 17-5 in the Bowl final, and Bramcote/Woodleigh overcoming Ryedale 14-10 to take the Shield.

Aysgarth beat Pocklington 24-12 to lift the Cup and Cundall Manor whitewashed Barnard Castle 29-0 to win the Plate.

Aysgarth, Merchiston, Pocklington and St Olave’s ‘A’ reached the semi-finals of the Cup, while Barnard Castle, Cundall Manor, Mowden and Sedbergh were the last four in the Plate.

Easingwold, Giggleswick, St Martin’s Ampleforth and Yarm made up the semi-final line-up in the Bowl, while Bramcote/Woodleigh, Birkdale, Ryedale and St Olave’s ‘B’ contested the Shield.

Barnard Castle scrum-half Joe Pickering was voted player of the tournament by the coaches and referees.
