READING about the proposed closure of Burnholme Community College, this reminded me how many schools have disappeared from central areas of the city.
Looking at both my schools in my lifetime, Shipton Street Infants School and Boys School St John, in the Groves area, have now disappeared.
I must commend those students making a stand for the school. We can only hope for a full consultation and fair assessment by those closing the school.
Is this indeed to do with numbers of pupils or is it another opportunity to sell-off for development?
