THOUSANDS of pleas for help to trace a missing York teenager have been made as the appeal for information was taken to the city’s night-time streets.

Friends of Jordan Sullivan’s family and a team of volunteers spent Saturday night handing out 6,000 leaflets to people visiting city-centre pubs and bars in the hope it will provide a crucial breakthrough in the search for the 19-year-old.

Jordan was last seen heading towards the River Ouse, off Acaster Lane, at about 9.30am on Tuesday, February 14, by a woman walking her dog, with his clothes and wallet later being found nearby. His mother Nicola Jobling has since made an emotional appeal for information about her son’s whereabouts.

The leaflet appeal was organised by Ms Jobling’s Marks & Spencer work colleagues, led by Caroline Byers and Lucy Hodge, who said the aim was to drive the need for information home to those who may not yet be aware of Jordan’s disappearance. They have also printed T-shirts and posters, with the 40-strong group concentrating their efforts on areas outside York’s busiest bars and pubs and York Station.

“We had a really good reception from people, who were taking handfuls of leaflets to hand them out inside, and the police and door staff also gave us great support,” said Caroline.

“It adds another dimension to the search because we feel many people, particularly those in Jordan’s age group, may not yet have got the message that he has disappeared and how much his family, who are obviously still devastated, want him to come home. Everybody is keeping their hopes up that he will be found.

“We are all just trying to find any piece of information which leads to Jordan coming home safely. Whether he is with friends, or he is just upset or panicking that he may be in trouble, his family just want to know he is safe.”

Caroline and Lucy thanked everybody who volunteered on Saturday and those who helped with printing leaflets and posters, with Lucy saying: “The response was brilliant and it’s great that people were prepared to just turn up and give their support.”

Jordan, a travel consultant at Quartz Travel in Heworth, is described as white, about 5ft 9in tall, with a slim build and short dark hair. He also has a tattoo of a crucifix running between his shoulder blades. Anybody who can help the investigation should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101, selecting option one.
