A closely fought top of the table Garforth Junior Football League clash between Thorpe United and Horsforth Earthquakes saw Thorpe run out as 2-1 winners.
The deadlock was broken when Lewis Griffiths was set free for Thorpe and he crossed for Corey Littlefield to head in the opener.
Five minutes later good work from Richard Buckthorpe ended in a neat lay off for Littlefield to pick his spot, making it 2-0 at half-time.
Weak defending allowed an early second half Horsforth goal.
Thorpe’s debutant goalkeeper Alex Ward was the man of the match.
