Selby District Council is financially emasculated, but this does not mean it needs to be moribund in delivering to its motto of “To Serve Others”.

Where is the push to promote that Selby is open to business; to deliver Olympia Park, including the riverside, the marina, vitality in the town centre; kicking Tadcaster out of its sloth and spinning the wealth of the Sherburn Enterprise into the retail and infrastructure of Sherburn?

I gave many hours to these projects and latterly and thankfully they are being taken up by the MP; but where are the council and leading councillors?

The economy is in poor straits and it demands urgent action in planning and development to hold the hands of investors and expanding enterprise.

Let that task force work to the urgent delivery business needs in getting the right sort of houses in the right locations to encourage entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial thinking, to bring in quality jobs and their spun-off wealth into the local economy.

It is time to think and engage with those who can deliver and stop giving the impression nothing happens and stop the migration into York and Leeds.
