Staff at the Sainsbury’s Foss Bank store in York cycled from dusk to dawn to raise funds for St Leonards Hospice.
Shoppers put their hands in their pockets and handed over more than £2,000 as they watched a relay of staff pedalling away on an exercise bike in the store entrance.
As well as the cycling event, staff also walked round the Bar Walls in costume on Hallowe’en and held book sales. Sue Millar, the hospice’s fundraising manager, said: “We are really grateful to the colleague council at Sainsbury’s Foss Bank store for their support in achieving such a good total.”
