ASDA has opened a Yorkshire deli in its Monks Cross, York, store to showcase the region’s best suppliers.
The deli has been made permanent following a trial before Christmas and the store has increased the number of local Yorkshire products it sells by more than 20 per cent.
CJ Antal-Smith, Asda’s category director for emerging markets, said: “When we tested this concept out last year, we immediately realised the only issue was ensuring we could meet demand, which was phenomenal for a local trial like this. We picked the York store as we know our customers there are passionate about local produce and the fact we’ve opened up the deli as a permanent fixture is testimony to this.”
