THE best Number One hits of the last 50 years - by stars from Elvis To Beyonce - are the theme for a new show by 200 children and young adults from a York dance school.
The Golden Hits production by the Heworth-based Clover School Of Dance looks set to raise £1,000 for The Press's Guardian Angels appeal and for the Willow Foundation, which helps terminally-ill children and adults' dreams come true.
School principal Elaine Brittain said her sister-in-law's brother had been helped by the foundation charity last year before he had died, having been taken for a spin in a Ferrari. The Guardian Angels appeal is raising funds for a children's high-dependency unit at York Hospital.
Elaine said the show would involve dancing - and a little singing - to hits from Jailhouse Rock and Spirit In The Sky to songs by Michael Jackson, Beyonce and Robbie Williams.
The show will be staged at Archbishop Holgate's School, at 7pm, tomorrow, and on Saturday, and again on the following Friday and Saturday, October 6 and 7. Tickets, priced at £5 for adults, £3 for senior citizens and £2 for a child, including a glass of wine or an orange squash in the interval, are available on the door.
